Or maybe it's because they're just different enough so that we love them;
So that we realize they need us.
If we could watch every person we met in an exhibit at the zoo, would we treat them more carefully?
These creatures need us, but we also need them.
They teach us about living and loving;
They teach us about simplicity;
If we let them, they can teach us about how to care for something weaker than us—
How to be kind, not because we will get something in return,
But because we recognize that this world thrives on kindness.
These apes are just different enough that I don't recoil at their actions.
I don't judge them, I just observe.
I don't ask them to give me anything other than to let me watch.
Their simple, animal forms disarm all my barriers and judgements
I'm looking at pure life, free from the assumptions of human perception.
They don't try to hide anything.
They live unashamed, therefore they teach.
